Peloux arriva de France à une date inconnue en compagnie de son épouse et de leur fille pour participer, en tant que colon, à l’expérience fouriériste de Réunion (Texas). Sa présence au sein de la communauté est attestée en avril 1856 ; il y travaillait alors comme bûcheron. Il aurait été évincé de la colonie en mai pour avoir fait des dettes.
