Originaire d’Alsace, charron de son état, Georges Reinhardt arriva au Texas, via la Belgique, en 1857, pour prendre part en tant que colon à l’expérience fouriériste de Réunion. Après la dislocation de la colonie il resta à Dallas, et, d’après le recensement, il y vivait seul en 1860.
